Skoda holds a very strong and important share in the automobile market and one of the model that actually helped it rise from nothing was Skoda Octavia. It was the best selling model for the brand and clocked enormous sales. Now that the car is no longer in production because of the BS IV norms implementation, we really miss it and for one long year it was being speculated that the Skoda Rapid will fill the gap of Octavia, however it turned out to be an all new model.But we are glad to hear that Skoda is planning to bring the Octavia brand back next year. At the 2012 Auto Expo, Winfried Vahland, Chairman, Board of Management for Skoda Auto stated that he likes the name Octavia and assured that next year they will bring it back.

As per speculations the company will replace the Laura brand with Octavia brand name which it thinks is fair from the market point of view. The next generation Octavia will be showcased at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show and is codenamed as ‘A7’. The production version of the same is likely to be introduced in the market by end of 2013.
Another interesting fact is that the Octavia will be built on Volkswagen’s MQB platform that will make the car even bigger than the ongoing Skoda Laura. We really can’t wait to see the next generation Octavia and are definitely looking forward to the Geneva Motor Show next year.
