The German luxury car maker, Mercedes Benz has brought out the facelifted version of their SUV, the Mercedes Benz G-Class. Set to debut at the Beijing Motor Show scheduled to take place this month, few images have nonetheless prematurely leaked on the web. The G-Class has become an iconic SUV with the first debut taking place 33 years ago. The facelifted version of the Mercedes Benz G Class is set to be launched in the month of June. Some changes that the G Class has received are a restyled grille, new headlamps with daytime running lights and redesigned mirror housings.
The tail lamps have also received minor upgrades along with a set of newly designed alloy wheels. The current version of the G Class powered by the 5.4 litre V8 engine which produces 500 BHP of power will be dropped and instead the company will plonk in the AMG twin turbo-charged 5.5 litre V8 in the G63 AMG. On the other hand, the G65 AMG comes with the twin-turbocharged 6.0 litre V12 engine which generates 621 BHP of power and 737 lb-ft of torque. It can do a 0 to 62 mph dash in just 5.2 seconds with top speed electronically limited to 155mph.
All the new G-Class models also come equipped with the Mercedes 7 speed 7G-tronic gearbox which replaces the current 5G-Tronic unit. It also features Stop-Start system and brake energy recuperation as a part of increased focus by the company to improve the fuel economy. On the inside, a 4.5 inch colour monitor with the latest Command system with internet functions will be featured. Mercedes Benz has seriously upgraded the G Class and will definitely find many potential buyers in the Indian market once launched.
