Reports suggest that the entry of Mr Amitabh Bachchan during
the premier of The Great Gatsby left everyone including the American media
stunned. While the American media were gathered to see the Hollywood stars like
Leonardo DiCaprio, they were surprised to see that the maximum people cheered
when Mr Bachchan reached for the premier.
Amitabh Bachchan described his feeling, when he stepped out
of his car to attend the premier on his blog, “‘No … this is not the important
person … who is he ?’ … cameras and faces turn away .. you look as though you
have been sighted as kill by a predator .. unmoving, not knowing where to go or
who to acknowledge. You pretend to look or feel that you are unaffected by all
this, move in normal invitee fashion on … and … THEN … it happens … !!!
Your name .. screamed out through pent up excited devotees,
rents the air .. several others join in … beyond the barriers attention drawing
well wishers, plead for a shake of a hand an auto graph … pictures of posters
wave in the air … the shouting continues … a few faces somewhat astonished by
all this turn around .. a few cameras turn too … and THAT is the moment …”
Terming attending the premier of his first Hollywood film as
a fantastic experience, Amitabh Bachchan wrote on his Twitter account, “Simply
superb! American media, fans, security in shock. Thank you my ED, and thank you
to those that cheered their lungs out. US media thought Leonardo had come, when
noise went up.”
Since Mr Bachchan has a very small role in the film, he did
not expect such a big cheer on his entry. The Bollywood star himself felt that
some people had actually mistaken him for Leonardo.
Amitabh Bachchan added that had his fans not cheered him so
loudly, “No one would have noticed me among such big Hollywood stars. I really
have no words to express my gratitude to all of you that cheered in virtual
world, and on the streets of NYC. I am indebted.”
Though, the American media may be surprised, but the loud
cheer Mr Bachchan got at his entry during the premier of The Great Gatsby goes
to show that he is a big star not only in India but across the world.
Amitabh Bachchan was overwhelmed by the reception he
received at the, ‘The Great Gatsby’ premier.
