Applications are invited for the following posts :
Name of the post : Plant Protection Adviser
Number of post : 1
Classification of post : General Central Service, Group ‘A’, Gazetted, Non-Ministerial
Pay Scale : Pay Band – 4 plus Grade pay Rs. 8900/-
Age Limit : The maximum age limit for appointment by deputation(including short term contract) shall be not exceeding 56 years as on the closing date of receipt of applications
Eligibility Conditions : Officers under the Central Government or State Governments or Union Territories or Universities or Recognised Research Institutions or Public Sector Undertakings or Semi-Government or Autonomous or Statutory Organisations:
(i)holding analogous post on regular basis in the parent cadre or Department;
or
(ii)with two years service in the grade rendered after appointment thereto on a regular basis in posts in Pay Band – 4:Rs.37400-67,000 plus Grade pay of Rs.8700/- or equivalent in parent cadre/Department. The Departmental officers in the feeder category who are in the direct line of
promotion shall not be eligible for consideration for appointment on deputation. Similarly, deputationist shall not be eligible for consideration for
appointment by promotion.
Educational Qualifications and Experience : (b) Possessing the following educational qualifications and experience;
(i)Doctorate Degree in Entomology or Nematology or Plant Pathology or Weed Science or Organic Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry or Agricultural Chemistry from a recognised university or Institute;
(ii)12 years practical experience in a supervisory position, in the control of pests or locust or plant diseases and their management including experience
of conducting applied research in this field.
(iii)Three years administrative experience.
Place of posting : Faridabad/New Delhi.
Period of deputation : Period of deputation(including short-term contract) including period of deputation(including short-term contract) in another ex-cadre post held immediately preceding this appointment in the same or some other organisation or Department of the Central Government shall ordinarily not exceed 5 years.
Duties and responsibilities attached to the post : (i)To advise the Govt. of India in matters relating to Plant Protection, Plant Quarantine, Storage and Locust Control.
(ii)Executive and administrative work relating to locust control in India and plant quarantine.
(iii)Administration of the Directorate of Plant Protection, Quarantine and Storage including its sub-stations. Act as Head of the Department and has all
the powers, duties and responsibilities of such heads.
(iv) To advise and assist State Governments in the formation and execution of their plant protection schemes as also in regard to anti-locust operations.
